His Eminence, Archbishop Irénée welcomed His Grace, Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, interim Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA & Canada, to the Archdiocesan Center in Rawdon, Québec. Archbishop Irénée was accompanied by Archpriest Anatoliy Melnyk, Dean of Quebec and Atlantic Provinces, Hieromonk Serafim Tregubov, and Deacon Dzianis Letunovsky.

His Grace bishop Matthew, accompanied by his assistant, Subdeacon Nikolai, visited the Holy Transfiguration Skete, St Seraphim Church, and the Russian Orthodox Cemetery.

Matushka Anisia Boldireff peacefully fell asleep in the Lord on September 1, 2021, at Hill House Hospice, Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada, after a 3 year battle with cancer.

The ongoing pandemic continues as a matter of concern throughout the world, but as vaccinations take hold and health precautions are eased, a more normal parish and worship life is beginning to be experienced across the archdiocese. In many parishes, the August feasts of the Transfiguration and Dormition have provided the opportunity for the faithful to gather again to give thanks to God for all his saving mercies and protection during a time of trial.

Those that know me well will attest that I almost never post personal messages online, and even more rarely ask for money for the church. But current challenges require that today I do both.

I have been the pastor of St Herman’s church in Langley, BC, since the parish began under the OCA in 1987. We have weathered many challenges and continued to grow, and many men who are now clergy began as catechumens at St Herman’s. My ministry of writing (currently totalling 25 books and well over 400 blog posts) was made possible because of the parish’s support.

The feast of St Seraphim of Sarov was celebrated in Rawdon with a Hierarchical Liturgy with Archbishop Irénée. Concelebrating with Vladyka were Fr Alexander Janowski, Fr Anatoliy Melnyk, Fr Stelian Liabotis, Fr Serafim Tregubov, Fr Alexandru Gheras, and Deacon Denis Letunouski.

The Quebec restriction on outdoor events was raised to 500 people on August. Unfortunately, we did not have that many people for this event, but we did manage to have a good attendance.
