On Sunday June 29th, His Eminence, Archbishop Irénée served the Divine Liturgy for the Feast of Saints Peter & Paul at Holy Apostles Orthodox Church in Chilliwack, BC. The feast coincided with the 10th Anniversary celebrations of the parish. 

Friday, June 27, 2025 to Saturday, June 28, 2025

On June 27th and 28th, Archbishop Irenée made a pastoral visit to inmates at Mission and Mountain Institutions in BC. His visit marked a significant and joyful occasion for the Orthodox Christian community behind prison walls.

The archbishop was accompanied by Fr Mircea Tihon, who ministers regularly to Orthodox inmates at Mission Institution. The two visited with inmates in the Chapels at both Mission Medium and Mission Minimum Institutions, offering spiritual encouragement and pastoral care, not only to Orthodox inmates, but to other friends and inquirers from the population.

Archimandrite David (Edwards) fell asleep in the Lord on June 14, 2025, unexpectedly at his residence. Fr David was rector of St Vladimir Prince of Kiev Orthodox Church in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Born in Southampton, England, in 1940, Fr David's early years were shaped by the trials of wartime Britain. His family endured the bombing of Southampton before relocating to the peaceful countryside of Dorset near Dorchester in 1945. In 1954, the family embarked on a new chapter, crossing the Atlantic to Canada during a fierce hurricane.

Saturday, May 17, 2025 to Sunday, May 18, 2025

On Saturday 17 May and Sunday 18 May, His Eminence Archbishop Irénée visited Holy Myrrhbearers Orthodox Mission, worshipping in the chapel of Trinity College, University of Toronto. The mission is integrated with Orthodox Christian Studies at Trinity College, offering graduate theological studies and clergy formation. Fr Geoffrey Ready is the rector of the mission and director of the Orthodox Christian Studies programme.

Like many other Orthodox Churches across the Archdiocese, St. Nicholas of Narol has been growing and growing and growing with people seeking a greater and more profound encounter with a saving love of God. Truly this growth has been a blessing beyond words, especially considering that St. Nicholas is by definition a "rural" parish, situated about 20 min North of Winnipeg. The challenge is that the community has outgrown its current space.

His Eminence Archbishop Irénée, the regional deans, and other members of the archdiocesan council met in Halifax, NS on 28 and 29 April. St Vladimir's parish hosted meetings and provided hospitality to all the delegates.

On the first Sunday of Great Lent, we celebrate the Triumph of Orthodoxy over iconoclasm, in the destruction of religious icons in the church. During the services this weekend, we commemorated the restoration of icons for use in our services and in the private devotional lives of Orthodox Christians. The faithful of the "Century Parishes" in Alberta gathered to celebrate the feast at the Nativity of the Holy Virgin Church in Kysylew-Andrew.
