50th Anniversary Celebrations at St Herman's, Langley, BC

What a beautiful and historic day for our parish!

Last Sunday, His Eminence Archbishop Irénée came to celebrate the 50th anniversary of St. Herman of Alaska Orthodox Church with us.

What made this anniversary especially meaningful was the consecration of our Holy Altar. Vladyka Irénée, together with our clergy, consecrated the Altar and then celebrated the Divine Liturgy with our parish community.

It was deeply moving to witness the consecration and to realize that this Altar, at which the Holy Eucharist will be offered for many years to come, was being set apart and sanctified for the service of God.

For fifty years, generations of Orthodox Christians here in Langley BC have prayed, worshipped, baptized their children, confessed their sins, received Holy Communion, married, mourned, and celebrated together in this parish. It was a great blessing to mark this anniversary not simply by looking back, but by consecrating the very heart of our new church building for the years ahead.

We are very grateful to Vladyka Irénée for being with us on this special day, and to everyone who has built, served, prayed, and sacrificed for our parish throughout these fifty years.

May God grant many more blessed years to our parish!
