A long-awaited, 60-plus page document by His Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon, titled Of What Life Do We Speak?  Four Pillars for the Fulfillment of the Apostolic Work of the Church, was released on Friday, June 29, 2018—the Feast of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul—in preparation for the 19th All-American Council of the Orthodox Church in America.

The 18th annual Orthodox Women’s Retreat entitled “Becoming a Healing Presence” will be held this September with speaker Dr Albert Rossi.

Held just west of Calgary, this is a pan-Orthodox women’s retreat involving many sister churches in Alberta. Tonia Howell has written a beautiful account of the 2017 retreat for the Messenger Blog.

His Eminence, Archbishop Irénée ordains Subdeacon Maximus Ferguson to the holy diaconate and Reader Gregory Rychlo to the subdiaconate at Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Concelebrating with the Archbishop were the Rector of the Holy Resurrection Father Leonard Herrem, Archpriest Daniel Guenther and Father Florin along with Deacon John from Saint Vincent of Lerins Orthodox Church Saskatoon.

On Pentecost Sunday, May 27, Fr Kolin Berglund of Smoky Lake, Alberta was ordained to the Holy Priesthood by His Eminence, Archbishop Irénée. 

The ordination took place during a hierarchical Divine Liturgy in Holy Trinity Parish in Smoky Lake in conjunction with the parish's altar feast or Khram.

His Eminence, Archbishop Irénée, visited Holy Trinity Church in Edmonton, Alberta, on 26 May on the eve of the Feast of Pentecost.

Serving with Vladyka Irénée for the Soul Saturday Liturgy were Fr Philip Speranza and Fr Raphael Johnston (of the Antiochian Archdiocese), along with Protodeacon Jesse Isaac.

For the Vespers of Pentecost on Saturday evening, His Eminence and Protodeacon Jesse were joined by Fr Philip, Fr Raphael, Fr Charalambos Tzintis (of the Greek Archdiocese).

Trinity Sunday, also called Pentecost (the 50th day after Easter), is one of the twelve major Orthodox holidays, celebrated every year with a lot of reverence and joy. On this day all Orthodox churches, are decorated with a lot of verdure. In our St Peter and St Paul Cathedral everything spoke of the feast: green festive vestments of the priests, spring flowers, green icon-lamps, boughs of birch at the royal doors, and freshly cut grass placed on the floor all created a merry and lighthearted ambiance.

The parish of St Gregory of Nyssa in Kingston, Ontario, was blessed by the visit of His Eminence Archbishop Irénée who presided at the Divine Liturgy on the Sixth Sunday of Pascha - the Sunday of the Blind Man - on Sunday 13 May.

Also serving were the parish's rector, Fr Andrew Anderson, along with Deacon Ivan Symchyna, and subdeacons Nikolas Liabotis and Mike Cherry.

Vladyka was presented with a bouquet of flowers by four young girls of the parish.
