May 26, 2013

As part of his Grace’s visit to the Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Nunavut Deanery, Vladyka Irénée served a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy with the faithful of St. Nicholas Church in Narol on May 26, 2013, the Sunday of the Paralytic. Concelebrating with him were the Rector, Priest Gregory Scratch, the Rector Emeritus, Archpriest Robert Stephen Kennaugh, Priest Anthony Estabrooks, Priest-in-charge of the Theotokos of the Life-Giving Spring Mission in Winnipeg and Protodeacon Nazari Polataiko, Secretary of the Archdiocese of Canada. At the beginning of the Divine Liturgy, Reader Gerald Bartel was ordained to be a subdeacon.

His Grace also brought with him for veneration the wonder-working icon of St. Nicholas containing a relic of St. Nicholas, from the Cathedral of the Annunciation in Ottawa, ON. During the service, Bishop Irénée awarded the Gold Cross to Priest Gregory and at the conclusion, a St. Tikhon’s Gramota certificate and medal were awarded to Matushka Susan Blomquist for her life-long example of love for our Saviour Jesus Christ and for her years of service in the community.
