The Feast of the Holy Theophany of our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ at St. Seraphim's parish, Toronto, ON

January 19, 2013

The Feast of the Holy Theophany of our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ celebrations was held in Saint Seraphim Orthodox Church, Richmond Hill, on January 19, 2013. It is one of the great feasts which marks the Baptism of the Lord and the revelation of the Most Holy Trinity (see Mt.3:13-17; Mark 1:9-11; Luke 3:21-22). It is believed that God's voice was heard and the Holy Spirit was seen in the form of a dove.

About 100 parishioners attended the Divine Liturgy, following by the Great Blessing of Water which was performed by Father Antony in the presence of Priest Alexei Vassiouchkine, the Rector of Saint Seraphim Orthodox Church, in commemoration of the Baptism of the Lord. The holy water is then used by the priests to bless the homes and businesses of the faithful, and also during Church services.

According to Orthodox tradition each and every parishioner left the church with containers of holy water. Watch photos:
