Archdiocese of Canada Assembly: Day 2

From August 22-24, 2013 the Archdiocese of Canada held its triennial Assembly in Gatineau, Quebec entitled “Faithful Stewardship: Our Words, Commitments, and Actions”.

Day two began with Divine Liturgy, celebrated by Igumen Gerasim (Power), Archpriest Bohdan Hladio, Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada (Ecumenical Patriarchate), and other Archdiocesan clergy.

The morning plenary session was opened with the second talk by Fr. Thomas Hopko titled “Clergy Compensation: Our Responsibility”. Fr.Bohdan Hladio,an invited guest, then led a workshop for the assembly entitled “How to create and cherish the mentality of Faithful Stewardship in our Parishes”. Mary Ann Lopoukhine and Dr. Barbara North then led a workshop with the introduction of the Proposed Guidelines for Clergy Compensation, a draft document and resolution prepared for the Assembly. The final workshop for the day was held during the afternoon plenary session titled “What your parish needs to know about misconduct, sexual abuse and appropriate behavior” which was led by Fr. John Jillions.

After vespers that evening, the St. Tikhon’s Archdiocesan Stewards hosted a reception, celebrating its success, thanking its faithful membership over the years and welcoming new members.
