Archbishop Irénée's Visit to Ottawa

October 6, 2019

On Sunday, 6 October, 2019, His Eminence, Irénée, Archbishop of Ottawa and Canada, arrived at his Cathedral of the Annunciation to the Theotokos-Saint Nicholas in Ottawa, Ontario, to serve the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy.

Archbishop Irénée was greeted at the entrance to the cathedral at 10am, after which followed the Entrance Prayers and the Vesting. Upon the conclusion of the vesting, the Acolyte Joseph Farid Wazem was brought to him.  After the prayers, Vladyka Irénée tonsured Joseph to be a Reader in the cathedral.

Then began the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy. Vladyka Irénée was assisted by the Cathedral Dean, the Archpriest James Griggs, by Archimandrite Luke (Majoros), and by the Priest Nikolay Melnik, as well as Deacon Alexander Moisa, Deacon Denis Letounovsky, and Deacon Mark Josefson, subdeacons, readers and acolytes.

Vlaydka Irénée gave the homily, and at the conclusion of the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, all sang joyfully the “Many Years” in particular because this service marked the tenth anniversary of the Episcopal Ordination of His Eminence, Archbishop Irénée in this cathedral.

There followed a festive dinner in the parish hall, where a celebratory cake was offered to Vladyka. The parishioners look forward to his next visit.
