When St Gregory of Nyssa Parish (Kingston, Ontario) purchased their new church in 2022, little did they know the historical legacy surrounding their new parish home.

The former United Church, built in 1881, is located on the same site as the Heritage Cemetery At Cataraqui, a burial ground for Loyalist settlers who came to Upper Canada fleeing for their safety from the American Revolution in the late 18th Century.

On Spirit Monday, Archbishop Irénée, Archpriest Gregory Scratch (priest in charge of the mission), and Deacon Denis Letunovsky (St Seraphim of Sarov Rawdon QC), made the 90-minute drive from Winnipeg to serve a Molieben of Thanksgiving with the faithful of the Christ the Saviour Mission in Winkler, Manitoba.

It was a joy to have His Eminence, our Archbishop Irénée at Holy Apostles Orthodox Mission in Chilliwack this past Sunday. Vladyka Irénée led us in the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy for the Fourth Sunday of Pascha, 2023. Christ is Risen! Eis Polla Eti Dhespota!
