Primatial Divine Liturgy - Annunciation / St. Nicholas Cathedral, Ottawa, ON

On August 25, 2013 Primatial Divine Liturgy, led by His Beaditude Tikhon, Archbishop of Washington, Metropolitan of All Americal and Canada, was held at Annunciation / St. Nicholas Archdiocesan Cathedral, Ottawa, ON in conjunction with the close of the Archdiocese of Canada Assembly held from August 22-24, 2013.

Concelebrating with His Beatitude were His Grace Bishop Alexander (Antiochian Archdiocese), His Grace Bishop Irénée, Administrator of the Archdiocese of Canada, Archpriest John Jillions, Chancellor of the Orthodox Church in America, Protopresbyter Thomas Hopko, Dean Emeritus of St. Vladimir’s Seminary, Archpriest Anatoly Melnyk, Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Canada along with other Archdiocesan and guest clergy.

During the little entrance, Metropolitan Tikhon awarded Deacon Sebastian Scratch the honor of wearing the double orar.

Upon the completion of Divine Liturgy, a Mobleben was served, officially marking the close of the 2013 Archdiocese of Canada Assembly.

Various awards were then presented. Priest Andrew Applegate, Sonia Applegate and Subdeacon Jeremy Scratch were awarded the Medal of St. Tikhon in recognition of their many years of continual work for the Archdiocese of Canada. Archdiocesan Gramotas were given to Mary-Ann Lopoukhine, Chair of the Assembly Organizing Committee, along with the other committee members.

Finally, on the occasion of Bishop Irénée’s 35th Anniversary of ordination to the priesthood, Metropolitan Tikhon awarded him the Order of St. Innocent, Silver Medal. His Grace was also presented with a mitre, a gift from the clergy of the Archdiocese of Canada.
