Archdiocesan Assembly 2023 - Comments and Photos
The Archdiocese of Canada held its 2023 Assembly from 17 to 21 July at the Manoir d'Youville, in Châteauguay, Québec.
His Eminence, Archbishop Irénée, was joined by His Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon, and His Grace, Bishop Alexei of Alaska.
Clergy and faithful from across Canada joined together in the daily services, presentations, and meetings throughout the assembly.
Many of the comments received picked up on the highlights of the gathering, the first in person assembly since 2017:
"How wonderful it was to see everyone again after the pandemic lockdowns and isolation. These assemblies are vital for uniting the archdiocese across Canada."
"To spend time with our beloved hierarchs, Vladyka Irénée and Metropolitan Tikhon, was such a blessing."
"From beginning to end the gospel of Christ dominated the assembly. We are inspired to go back to our parishes and communities and share our faith with the world."
"I appreciated Jonathan Pageau's talk on how the person, the family, and the church are all interrelated in God's cosmos. I loved meeting him in person after watching him on YouTube."
"What a grace-filled week. I just wish more of our clergy and people could have been there to experience it."
"Bishop Alexei's message about the diocese of Alaska and his plea for us to come to the aid of the people there was very moving. We should ensure we support them as well as working for reconciliation with indigenous peoples in Canada."
