Holy Trinity Cathedral in Winnipeg had the recent blessing of two visits from their Archbishop, His Eminence Irénée.

Vladyka served Hierarchical Liturgies for the Feast of the Dormition of the Mother of God (New Calendar) on August 15th, and for the Forefeast of the Transfiguration of the Lord (Old Calendar) on August 18th. 

Holy Trinity presently offers regular services according to each calendar - English services on the new (revised Julian), and Slavonic/English services on the old.

This August the parish of St Nicholas in Narol, and the mission station of Christ the Saviour in Winkler had the blessing of having Archbishop Irénée serve with them for the feast of the Icon not made by hands (the altar feast of the Mission) and the ordination of Deacon Yuri Hladio to the priesthood.

On Thursday, August 1st, Vladyka Irénée celebrated the patronal Feast of St Seraphim of Sarov in Rawdon, Québec.

Concelebrating with Vladyka Irénée were Fr Anatoliy Melnyk, Fr Alexander Janowski, Fr Ivaylo Vutov, Fr Dragos Guilea, Fr Stelian Liabotis, Fr Nectaire Féménias, Fr Gleb Melnyk, Fr Dimitri Choueiry, Fr Nicolas Svetlovsky, Archimandrite Marc Pierre, Archdeacon Amvrosi Mlodzik, and Deacon Denis Letunouski.

Approximately 100 people were in attendance, some from far away as Paris, France. It was a joyous occasion with perfect weather.

Archbishop Irénée commends Orthodox writer Frederica Mathewes-Green's suggested Dormition Fast prayer vigil to end abortion.

Green writes that occasions of joy sometimes elicit occasions of sorrow. This is so because the world is fallen, shorn from the full beauty and majesty of God. The world however, is not without hope because of the promise of the restoration of all things through the work of the Son of God, Jesus Christ the Righteous. The fallen world can be made new.

Saturday, July 13, 2019 saw the passing of Dr Edward Hartley of Surrey, B.C. Dr Hartley studied medicine at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and after graduation moved to Vancouver, B.C. in 1964 where he began a family medical practice. He married Vivian Robertson in 1967 and together they had three children: James, and the twins Andrea and Maria. Dr. Ed was well-known as a beloved doctor who was devoted to his patients. He was also well-known as a local iconographer.

During the last week of June and first week of July 2019, His Eminence, Archbishop Irénée of Ottawa and Canada was on pilgrimage to Russia, where he visited Ekaterinburg and the Moscow region.  He was accompanied by Archpriest Daniel Andrejuk, Representative of the Orthodox Church in America to the Russian Orthodox Church and Dean of the OCA’s Representation Church of the Great Martyr Catherine, Moscow, and Protodeacon Jesse Isaac.
