This weekend, on the feast of the Meeting of the Lord, we had the joy of receiving into the church by baptism and chrismation our beloved Vidal family. This is the first time that the church of All Saints in Meadow Lake, SK. has received a full family into the church, and it marks the end of a three year long courtship with the Orthodox Church for them.

On the feast of Theophany (OS) the Archpriest Gregory Scratch served the Great Blessing of Waters at St Nicholas Orthodox Church in Sandy Lake Manitoba (est. 1905) and blessed the their lake.

This has become a community event that brings out many of Sandy Lake's residents (even in -25 weather!) and speaks to the importance the lake has in the community and their trust in the Lord's saving work in creation.

Photos of Fr Stelian Liabotis blessing the Ottawa River in a chilly -24C. Despite the temperature in Ottawa falling below that of every other national capital in the world on Saturday morning (not even counting the windchill of -38C), the faithful braved the cold and even one had a dip in the river.

Fr Ryan Bishop and the parishioners of All Saints Orthodox Church, Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, blessed the waters of the Meadow River, which runs straight into the lake where the entire city gets its drinking water. The children were thrilled that they were blessing the water for the whole town and think it's awesome that now everyone is drinking holy water.

It is probably the very first time any waters have been blessed in Meadow Lake. Glory to God!
