Fr Matthew Francis writes: "Yesterday was the midpoint of Lent. We marked this by looking ahead to the Cross, the Tomb, and the Resurrection. For Christians, this is not merely history, but a present reality. In the Orthodox Church, on this Sunday, a Cross is brought out into the midst of the Church, and is often adorned with flowers or herbs. This is a sign that, paradoxically, through the Cross of Jesus Christ - life and joy has come into all the world!"
