Orthodoxy Sunday in Holy Trinity Parish, Smoky Lake, Alberta

February 25, 2018

The parishioners of Holy Trinity Parish in Smoky Lake, AB, combined with many from the Century Orthodox Parishes (Smoky Lake - Andrew - Willingdon districts) gathered on Sunday February 25th for the First Sunday in Great Lent where a very grand procession of the Holy Icons was held after the Divine Liturgy for the Sunday of Orthodoxy.

The Service was led by the rector, Archimandrite Gerasim (Power) and Deacon Kolin Berglund.  Deacon Kolin gave the homily which spoke of the origins and significance of this Sunday and importance of the Holy Icons both in the Church and in the home. This was the first such service ever in the region which has had an approximate 125 year history of the Orthodox Church.
