Monastery Creates Waterfowl-Nature Refuge

January 24, 2015

The Monastery of All Saints of North America in Dewdney, BC, has created a 15 acre waterfowl refuge area and stream rehabilitation project. The subject area is shaded in brown in the photograph.

Volunteers have planted select trees and shrubs along the stream, and the Fraser Valley Watershed Management Service provided a machine to clear the overgrowth from the creek bed. The monastery's own Andrew Hurcum supervises the property in order to maintain the organic quality of any fields and gardens. This coordinates with the refuge and the work of the Watershed  Management Service.
