Fr Kolin Berglund Ordained to the Priesthood in Smoky Lake, Alberta

On Pentecost Sunday, May 27, Fr Kolin Berglund of Smoky Lake, Alberta was ordained to the Holy Priesthood by His Eminence, Archbishop Irénée. 

The ordination took place during a hierarchical Divine Liturgy in Holy Trinity Parish in Smoky Lake in conjunction with the parish's altar feast or Khram.

Fr Kolin is no stranger to Smoky Lake and the region as he is from Smoky Lake, originally from nearby Lamont, Alberta and is well known and loved in all the parishes in the district. He has served for a a number of years in the region. He is now attached to Holy Trinity Parish, Smoky Lake as second priest and will be providing services for the St Tikhon's group of parishes (Holy Transfiguration-Star, St Nicholas-Bukowina, Holy Trinity-Sunland, and St Nicholas-Desjarlais) under the guidance of Archimandrite Gerasim (Power) of the Century Orthodox Parishes group, and he will occasionally serve in those parishes as well. 

Attending the ordination were Fr Kolin's wife, Matushka Ella, his three children Nicholai, Olena and Ellina, Fr Kolin's mother Deana,  Matushka Ella's father Nicholai Plewa from Poland, Fr Kolin's sister Karla. Also present were clergy, including Chancellor Archpriest Phillip Eriksson, Rector/Dean Archimandrite Gerasim (Power), Protodeacon Jesse Isaac and Monk Tikhon (Green).

Many friends visitors and of course numerous parishioners from all the parishes of the region were there the ordination was followed by a wonderful banquet put on by Holy Trinity Parish, Smoky Lake and the Century Orthodox Parishes Social club, featuring, among other culinary goodies, a splendid prime rib prepared by the local parish starosta, Garry Fedoretz. We wish Fr Kolin and long and blessed ministry as a priest in Christ's Holy Orthodox Church.
