BC Fires Force Another Evacuation of Holy Transfiguration Hermitage

August 14, 2017

There have been a number of additional lightning strikes close to Holy Transfiguration Hermitage (north of Sheridan Lake) and the Elephant Hill fire is once again growing and moving closer to the hermitage due to high winds. On Saturday August 12, an evacuation order which included southern areas to within about three kilometers south of the hermitage was issued. Fathers Gregory and Samuel and Brother Moses have been advised that it would be wise to once again leave the hermitage as it is very likely that an evacuation order will be coming in the next couple of days for their property. Accordingly they will be leaving the Hermitage once again today (August 14) and ask for our prayers for their safety and the protection of the hermitage, as well as for all of the BC areas affected by the wildfires.
