Two parishes recently witnessed and celebrated the ordination of Evgeniy Prokhin – first to the Diaconate at Sts. Peter & Paul Sobor, Montreal, on May 6 (the feast of the North side altar and the day of St. George), and then to the Holy Priesthood on May 8 (the day of the holy Apostle Mark) at St. Serafim of Sarov, Rawdon. Our dear sister in Christ, Mother Nila, was born Irene Lebedeff on March 9, 1927 of Russian parents in Riga, Latvia. Throughout her long and fruitful life, Mother Nila lived in Latvia, Poland, Peru and Quebec. She was married and had two children. After the death of her husband, she was tonsured a nun at the Monastery of the Protection of the Mother of God in Bussy-en-Othe, France. Returning to Quebec, she spent the past 30 years of her life in Rawdon, QC.

His Eminence Archbishop Irénée visited the Holy Apostles Mission in Chilliwack, BC on Easter Sunday.

Fr. Mathew Francis, Dn Nicolas Svetlovsky and subdeacon Barry Neufeld then served Vespers outside at a parishioner's home near Chilliwack (see photos below).

On Sunday 9 April, the Sign of the Theotokos Church was honored with the presence and the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Irénée to celebrate Palm Sunday.

With the feast and in a very festive atmosphere we celebrated Jesus's triumphant entry into Jerusalem. Fr Gregory Nimijean was awarded to wear the palitza.

After the service around 100 parishioners shared an enjoyed together the traditional Palm Sunday Luncheon fundraising with a delicious Greek flavour. The food was generously donated and all the proceeds were given to the church.
