Clergy and faithful from St Benoît de Nursie Church and The Sign of the Theotokos Church welcome three new members into the Church by Baptism and Chrismation, followed by Divine Liturgy.

Serving along with Vladyka Irénée are: Fr Gregory Nimijean, Fr Justin Mitchell, Fr Dragos Guilea, Archdeacon Amvrosi Mlodzyk, Archimandrite Marc and Deacon Nicolas Svetlovsky.

Archbishop Irénée celebrated the Nativity of the Theotokos at St Mary and Holy Martyrs Brancoveanu Church in Kitchener, ON. Concelebrating were Fr Didel Furtuna, Fr Dumitru Ichim, Romanian Episcopate (OCA) Fr Vasyl Kolega and Deacon Ivan Symchyna.

Fr Didel Furtuna was elevated to the rank of Archpriest and was awarded the pectoral Jeweled Cross.

Parishioners also venerated the Wonderworking Belt and relics of St John of Shanghai and San Francisco.

Fr Samuel of the Holy Transfiguration Hermitage in Lone Butte, BC, reports that on the feast day of the Nativity of the Theotokos on Friday, September 8, our Lady sent them a wonderful birthday gift. A great downpour began and continued into the next day. The Elephant Hill fire which had traveled about 100km towards the hermitage and was raging approximately 8km from their doorstep, was thoroughly drenched.

On Monday, September 11, many dozens of firefighters from the Edmonton Fire Department gathered at the Firefighter Memorial in Edmonton to remember that fateful day of 9/11, 2001 which saw thousands of lives lost in the brutal acts of terrorism in the USA, among them, 343 firefighters.

The Edmonton firefighters were joined by many from other departments including Smoky Lake Volunteer Fire Department. Archimandrite Gerasim is the Fire Chaplain for Smoky Lake and also himself a volunteer firefighter with the department.

It's been 30 years since Archmandrite Alexander Pihach celebrated the first liturgy of St Mark the Evangelist Church in Yorkton, SK. His Eminence, Archbishop Irénée, joined Father Rodion Luciuk, rector, Father Cosmin Vint of the Romanian Archdiocese, Protodeacon Jesse Issac, and Deacon Ken Gaber of the Romanian Archdiocese, and the people of St Mark's in celebrating an anniversary Divine Liturgy on Sunday, August 20.

The icon of Christ now above the entrance door to the Holy Apostles Mission in Chilliwack, British Columbia, has a story behind it.

This image is a copy of an icon originally painted by Heiko Schlieper, of blessed memory, a well-known Canadian iconographer and scholar, who fell asleep in the Lord in 2008. Father Matthew, worked together with Heiko on several research projects in the early 2000’s, and Matushka Krista and Father Matthew were greatly blessed by his friendship.

With the permission of His All Holiness, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, the Monastery of All Saints of North America has organised an ecumenical conference on ecology in his honour.

The Conference is titled A Sacramental Approach to Ecology. It is sponsored by the monastery, and co-hosted by Trinity Western University in Langley, BC. Moderator will be Steven Bynum, executive producer of National Public Radio’s Worldview. Speakers from a spectrum of the Christian churches will present.
