Icon of the Mother of God "The Abbess of the Holy Mount Athos"
Saturday, November 15, 2014 to Wednesday, November 19, 2014

The holy wonderworking icon of the Mother of God "The Abbess of the Holy Mount Athos", along with the holy relics of St Gabriel of Mount Athos, visited Christ the Saviour Sobor in Toronto over the past several days, 15 - 19 November.

Also in Toronto, on Tuesday 18 November, an akathist was served before this holy icon at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation at which several of our priests were present.

The wonderworking Abbess of Mount Athos Icon of the Most Holy Mother of God and the Holy Relics of St Gabriel of Mount Athos will be at Sts Peter and Paul Cathedral November 21-23.

The holy wonderworking icon of the Mother of God "the Abbess of the Holy Mount Athos" will be available in Christ the Saviour Cathedral for veneration on Saturday November 15, Sunday November 16, and Monday, November 17, along with the holy relics of St Gabriel of Mount Athos.

The Abbess of Mount Athos Icon of the Most Holy Mother of God and holy relics of St Gabriel of Mount Athos can be venerated in Ottawa on November 28-30, 2014.

Saturday, November 29, 2014

The Enthronement of Bishop Irénée as Bishop of Ottawa and the Archdiocese of Canada will take place on Saturday, November 29 with a primatial Divine Liturgy at 10am, at Annunciation/St Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral in Ottawa.

The Liturgy will be followed by a celebratory banquet at the cathedral. Tickets will be $10 each and must be reserved in advance.

On Tuesday, October 21, 2014—the opening day of the fall session of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Orthodox Church in America—His Grace, Bishop Irénée of Québec City and Igumen Paul [Gassios] were canonically elected to the vacant Episcopal Sees of Canada and Chicago and the Midwest. In addition, the Holy Synod elected Igumen David [Brum] to serve as Auxiliary to His Eminence, Archbishop Benjamin of San Francisco and the West as Bishop of Santa Rosa, CA.
