For the August Long weekend, the clergy of the Manitoba and Saskatchewan deanery met in Yorkton at the parish of St. Mark the Evangelist. The primary goal of the meeting was to simply talk about the challenges and successes of parish life, as well as talk about Archdiocesan life and events.

Monastic Synaxis closes, statement issued

With the blessing of their diocesan bishops, the superiors (or their representatives) of monastic communities within the Orthodox Church in America gathered at the Chancery here for a “Synaxis” July 21-23, 2014.

In addition to spiritual fellowship and mutual upbuilding and encouragement, common concerns and the emerging nature of North American monasticism were discussed.

The first-ever Small Parish Forum was at Christ the Savior Church here July 10-12, 2014. It was co-hosted by the Diocese of the Midwest and the Archdiocese of Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania.

Geared to parishes with 50 members or less, the forum featured speakers who presented ideas, principles and tactics for strengthening the parish, committing to long term viability, and developing reachable goals.
