On the feast of Theophany (OS) the Archpriest Gregory Scratch served the Great Blessing of Waters at St Nicholas Orthodox Church in Sandy Lake Manitoba (est. 1905) and blessed the their lake.

This has become a community event that brings out many of Sandy Lake's residents (even in -25 weather!) and speaks to the importance the lake has in the community and their trust in the Lord's saving work in creation.

The Annunciation Orthodox Cathedral will be holding a Lenten retreat with Fr John Behr, who will discuss his forthcoming book, John the Theologian and his Paschal Gospel: A Prologue to Theology.

The retreat will take place on Saturday, March 16, 2019 from 9:30 am until 4:30 pm, followed by Vigil at 5:00 pm.

Photos of Fr Stelian Liabotis blessing the Ottawa River in a chilly -24C. Despite the temperature in Ottawa falling below that of every other national capital in the world on Saturday morning (not even counting the windchill of -38C), the faithful braved the cold and even one had a dip in the river.

Fr Ryan Bishop and the parishioners of All Saints Orthodox Church, Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, blessed the waters of the Meadow River, which runs straight into the lake where the entire city gets its drinking water. The children were thrilled that they were blessing the water for the whole town and think it's awesome that now everyone is drinking holy water.

It is probably the very first time any waters have been blessed in Meadow Lake. Glory to God!
