For anyone who was in the Ottawa area on Saturday, May 8th, there was a great new way to see topnotch chamber music concert featuring acclaimed musicians from the United States. The concert was held at St. Luke’s Church, a beautiful festival venue. The program was featuring Trio by Haydn, pieces by Ravel, Chopin, Kreisler, Elgar, Tartini.
This fundraising concert was organized by the Annunciation Orthodox Cathedral in Ottawa, which is establishing a series of Chamber Music Concerts in order to renovate the large facility purchased in 2005. The new location for the Cathedral has become a home for Orthodox Christians of all ethnic backgrounds.
These performances are a benefit courtesy of the St. Lawrence Valley Soloists. The ensemble brings together renowned classical musicians from across the United States. These musical professors have captivated audiences and critics in Canada, Asia, and Europe: Paul Wyse, piano; Francois Germain, piano; John Lindsey, violin; Nina Gordon, cello. It was most enjoyable evening. We look forward to the next concert of St. Lawrence Valley Soloists and hope they perform more and more on the concert stage.
