Visit of His Beatitude, Metropolitan Jonah to Edmonton
The Vigil and the Divine Liturgy on the Feast of St. Herman of Alaska His Beatitude, Metropolitan Jonah, celebrated the Vigil and the Divine Liturgy for the feast-day of Saint Herman of Alaska at the Sobor of St. Herman of Alaska in Edmonton, AB on December 13, 2011. Concelebrating with His Beatitude, Metropolitan Jonah were His Grace, Bishop Iov of Kashira, Administrator of Patriarchal Parishes in Canada, His Grace Bishop Irenee of Quebec City, Administrator of the Archdiocese of Canada; Archimandrite Alexander [Pihach], Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Canada, Dean of Alberta, and Sobor Rector; Archpriest Sergey Kiprianovich, Rector of the Holy Great Martyr Barbara's Cathedral, Edmonton, AB (MP); Igumen Philip (Speranza), Rector of the Holy Trinity Church in Edmonton, AB; Archpriest Nikolai Nikolaev, Rector of St. Tikhon's Family of Parishes, AB; Archpriest Gerasim Power, Rector of Smoky Lake parish district, AB; Archpriest Igor Kisil, Rector of Nisku parish district (MP); Archpriest Elias Ferezeli, Rector of St. Philip's Antiochian Orthodox Parish in Edmonton, AB; Priest Vincent Lehr, Rector of All Saints' Church in Meadow Lake, SK; Priest Raphael Johnson, Rector of Protection of the Antiochian Orthodox Mission of the Most Holy Theotoko in Fort Saskatchewan, AB; Priest Philip Halliwell (a priest of the Canadian Archdiocese studying at Saint Tikhon's Seminary, South Canaan, PA); Priest Anthony Filchak, Rector of Orthodox V parish district, AB (MP); Priest Matthew Francis, Second Priest of St. Herman of Alaska's Sobor, Edmonton, AB; Protodeacon Nazari Polataiko, Secretary of the Archdiocese of Canada; and Deacons Daniel Friesen and Jesse Issac. The celebrations concluded with the members of the parish singing the Many Years to Metropolitan Jonah, to Bishop Iov, to Bishop Irenee, to the Queen and the civil authorities of Canada, to our God-beloved country, and to all Orthodox Christians. In the evening of the same day, at 7:00 Metropolitan Jonah gave a Public Lecture on the topic "Do not React, Do not Resent, Keep Inner Stillness – the hope of an Orthodox Life". |
