His Beatitude, Metropolitan Jonah, celebrated the Divine Liturgy
at the Sobor of  Ss. Peter and Paul in Montreal, QC, July, 2011
On July 12, the Feast the holy, glorious and all-praised Leaders of the Apostles Peter and Paul , His Beatitude, Metropolitan Jonah celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Sobor of Ss. Peter and Paul in Montreal, QC. Concelebrating with His Beatitude  were His Grace, Bishop Irénée,  Mitred Archpriest Anatoliy Mel'nyk (Rector of the Sobor Ss. Peter and Paul and Dean of Quebec and the Maritimes), the Archpriest Alexander Janowski (Rector Emeritus of the Sobor of Ss. Peter and Paul), the Priest Gregory Nimijian (Rector of St. Benoît Church, Montreal, QC), the Priest Andrew Anderson (guest priest from the Diocese of the West), Hieromonk Basile (Paradis), the Protodeacon Nazari Polataiko, and the Deacon Sebastian Scratch.

The Sobor of Ss. Peter and Paul was founded in 1907 by immigrants from the Russian Empire and incorporated in 1915. The parish eventually moved to its present location, a former Anglican Church, in a solemn public procession. The parishioners of mixed Slavic background have been served by a distinguished and dedicated series of deacons, priests, and bishops, including Bishop Antony and Archbishop Sylvester; Archpriests Oleg Boldireff, George Benigsen, John Tkachuk; and Protodeacons Peter Svetlovsky, Peter Feochary, and Gregory Maksymiuk. The community has produced a number of clergy for the Church. The sisterhood and brotherhood contribute greatly to the family life of the parish; and the choir has always been a leading example in singing. The late Alexander A. Kaminsky was a well-known and long-time choir-director who performed his duties at this parish for nearly forty years. He was followed by Mr. Michael A. Woinowsky-Krieger who ably handled the duties of both choir-director and Psalm-reader for over ten years. Mr. Woinowsky-Krieger had the good fortune to serve on the kliros with Mr. Kaminsky. The late Alexander I. Chomicz was Psalm-reader at the parish for nearly fifty years until his repose in 2001 at the age of 91. The current choir director is Olena A. Ilvakhina.

The principle language of the services is Slavonic, and the old-style Julian calendar is followed.
