Museum Opening in 2007

Our seasonal Museum is dedicated to the Orthodox faith and our pioneer heritage opened in 2007 in the newly restored Church of the Holy Resurrection in Sifton.
The opening story of 2007 season was "Crowns of Wild Flowers: The Wedding of Han'ka and Petro, 1927" that told much about matrimony in the pioneer days and sparked much reminiscing from visitors.
The Season 2007 closed with a concert, which brought more revenue for next year.

We are grateful to the Young Canada Works programme of the Federal Government for assistance in paying our student's wages.

Plan for 2008 season

The exhibit for year 2008 is "A Prairie Childhood:" the life of children in homesteading times and beyond, infant baptism, prayers children learned, their participation in feasts, little rhymes and lullabies, as well as artefacts. We hope to include Orthodox perspectives on child-raising and home-life, including St. Theophan's advice to parents.
Anyone with any children's articles from the past they might want to donate or lend (home-made clothing, lunch pails, children's handwritten prayer books) please write Katya Szalasznyj. We are also looking for anecdotes and stories. And items for the Kiosk (one person made lovely cross fridge magnets that were a best seller; we need more itmes of this type, thanks!)

Project co-ordinator

The project is being co-ordinated by Katya Szalasznyj. Please consider coming to Sifton for the Pilgrimage and the following June events. You also have a hearty invitation to drop into the Museum any time you can over the summer!
