Harvest Concert Ends Museum Season at Sifton, 2008 A Harvest Concert held Sunday, August 31st, ended the Museum season at the Canadian Orthodox Pioneer Museum, Sifton. About 40 people took it in, and it was great to see quite a few children. Steve Yuriy and his friends, Mike and Elmer, and later, his brother-in-law, Elmer from Flin Flon, led many familiar tunes and often we sang along. There were anecdotes, jokes and old school poetry. To honor the church setting, Steve sang "30 Pieces of Silver" and a memorial song for his Mother, while Brittainy sang "God's Creation." We said goodbye to our summer student, Kara, who at age 16, did a fine job of keeping the Museum open rain or shine, and led prayers there every Sunday. We closed with the Lord's Prayer, and went to the Community Hall for lunch. In all, we had 130 visitors to the Museum in 2008, and earnings from our little store will help pay for our student guide. We are glad that Young Canada Works, a federal program, covered 75 percent of her salary. A word about Sifton Church - the Restoration is done, with a new basement and new roof, but the dome base leaks! When it rained, our summer student had to put out pails and one big storm did quite a bit of ceiling damage. We need to caulk the base of the dome, which will cost to rent a crane. If you want to contribute to this very much needed work, please designate a cheque for it to the Archdiocese (c/o Chancery West, Edmonton). God will bless you.
