The Saint Arseny Orthodox Christian Theological Institute

Orthodox Theological Study in Canada
Saint Arseny Institute is the theological school for the Archdiocese of Canada, The Orthodox Church in America.  It operates with the blessing of His Eminence, Seraphim, Archbishop of Ottawa and Canada.
The Institute’s programs are administered from Winnipeg, a city of 700,000 located in the southern part of the province of Manitoba, at the longitudinal centre of Canada.

Master of Divinity Degree
A full program of studies in Orthodox theology for the M. Div. degree has been approved by Archbishop Seraphim as academic preparation toward ordination for the priesthood.  Courses for the graduate-level Master of Divinity program are offered through the Faculty of Theology at the University of Winnipeg for the M. Div. Degree from the University.  The Faculty of Theology is a member of the Association of Theological Schools.  Some of this program of studies may be taken by various means at a distance.

Diaconal Program of Studies
Also included in the mandate of the Institute is the provision of twenty, one-term correspondence courses to prepare those seeking ordination to the Holy Diaconate in the Orthodox Church.

Reader’s Program
The Reader’s Program is offered by correspondence to those who would like to be equipped to carry out the role of reader in the liturgical life of the Orthodox Church.

Studies for Laity
The M. Div., Diaconal, and Reader’s Programs are also available to anyone interested in gaining or deepening an understanding of Orthodox theology or worship.

Canadian Journal of Orthodox Christianity
The on-line academic journal, the Canadian Journal of Orthodox Christianity, is published by the St. Arseny Institute at www.cjoc.ca
We welcome inquiries (institute@saintarseny.ca) about the Saint Arseny Institute, which began classes in September, 2003, and is named after a beloved and revered servant and bishop of the Orthodox Church in Canada, who fell asleep in the Lord in 1945.
