Vladyka's visit to Ottawa following the fire beside the Cathedral

Early morning on Sept 6th, a fire destroyed the empty house beside the Cathedral in Ottawa. All tenants are safe, but there was extensive smoke and water damage to the residences and to the sacristy.

The resident section of the building has sustained significant damage from smoke and water, as well as some fire damage to the roof. The temple is untouched as is the basement hall.

They are waiting for results of environmental testing which will determine if there is any contamination from substances such as asbestos. They do not have electricity and an electrician has been planning for restoration of hydro which involves new in-coming lines and a dedicated electricity room.
