Seniors in Narol will soon have new opportunities to mentor younger generations and to participate in social activities announced James Bezan, Member of Parliament for Selkirk-Interlake, on behalf of the Honourable Alice Wong, Minister of State (Seniors).

St. Nicholas Orthodox Church is receiving $23,175 for their project from the New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP).

CandlesThe St. Nicholas parish will renovate a space, purchase a wax extraction system and candle making equipment to provide a new candle making class for seniors to teach a tradition and create light.

“From its humble beginnings over a hundred years ago, the parish of St. Nicholas in Narol has always endeavoured to meet the spiritual and practical needs of those in its community. As we start into our second century of life serving the  surrounding communities and municipalities of St. Clements, East St. Paul, and Selkirk, the New Horizons grant enables us to provide further opportunities to continue to grow in this service. The same pioneer love and devotion offered by new Canadians from Ukraine a century ago, that helped develop the strong communities we now live in, continues to this day, connecting the founding and new members of our community and the communities at large.
