A new podcast devoted to exploring the various aspects of Orthodox liturgical singing and related topics was recently launched on Ancient Faith Radio.

Titled “Sing to the Lord; Exploring the Many Facets of Orthodox Liturgical Singing,” the podcast is authored by Dr. Vladimir Morosan, who brings over 40 years of experience to the field on Church music. In addition to being the founder and Artistic Director of Archangel Voices, a professional-level choral ensemble which has recorded six CDs of liturgical music in English, he also serves as Music Director at Saint Katherine OCA Mission, Carlsbad, CA. He has taught and lectured widely at music workshops and conferences; conducted choirs in various jurisdictions; served as guest conductor, coach and lecturer for a number of professional choirs; composed and edited numerous choral arrangements; and authored, edited and translated several books. He serves as a consultant for the Department of Liturgical Music of the Orthodox Church in America and has served as a consultant to the music department of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Patriarch Tikhon Russian-American Institute and President and founder of Musica Russica music publishing house.

The program will explore the theology of singing and Orthodox worship over the centuries, different types of hymns and genres, the origins and structures of various chant systems, and the various hymnographers and composers. Through the music itself, ways of listening to the hymns, understanding them, and learning to internalize them as an aid to prayer will be discussed.

The podcast may be accessed here. New podcasts will be debuted approximately every two weeks.
